Does anyone else have a Chronic cough with their Fibro?

Posted in Group:

I get a cough at least once a month and this time it is running around in my chest. I read that this can be one of the symptoms of Fibromyalgia. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do?

I do its weird....prob not like urs?? its this chronic itch and tickle in my bronchulesand way back of throat, it doesnt want to stop. The doc gives me these anti itch gel tabs to make it stop. I have had bronchitis twice this winter very frusterated. Just that constant tickle itch also.

I took my daughter to her doctor this morning because she twisted her ankle in softball yesterday (just a sprain), I was coughing so bad the doctor made me a new patient on the spot and gave me a chest x-ray that came back fine. She put me on Levaquin and Tessalon pearls. I didn't want the Tussionex because it has hodrocodone in it and I am already on oxycodone for the Fibro. I talked to my Fibro doctor and there is research out there that Dextromorphone (sp) its a cough suppres that's found in Robitussin and Musinex has been known to help with Fibro pain. I have been taking that too and hasn't helped much with the cough LOL - maybe the tessalon, I will let you know. If you have an itchy cough, maybe the dextro stuff will help you. :) The worse thing about the cough is that I am 42 now and sometimes when I cough too hard I have to cross my leggs really hard! sorry for the TMI! :)

I have a constant irritation in my chest. It's like an itch all the time but inside my chest deep inside my chest. I try not to cough because it never brings me relief, i just sound like a barking dog. Ruff. cough suppressants don't help.

My cough is from my sinus's draining. Yuck. Its a seasonal thing for me. But, the high blood pressure meds make me cough too.

Bowen - the inhailer I have is Proventil I think - it is Albuteral and it will help when I get a coughing fit. It is def something to try if you have not done so yet. I ended up going back to the doc today because my husband was afraid that it was turning into pneumonia. I ended up back on the Tussionex and that was what I didn't want to do :(

Sorry about your cough Fox :( if you try the inhaler be careful, I think they run up blood pressure too.

Hang in there guys :)

Hanging in, Starshine! I dont think my cough is the same as the original posters. And, yes, I cant use inhalers because of the high BP but also because of the high blood sugars.

Wishing you all the best!
