Hypothalmus-Pituitary-Adrenal Gland Axis (HPA Axis)
Hi all,
I am new here.. I had a complete thyroidectomy 4 yrs ago and now all of a sudden or so it seemed my TSH is 34.. they have me on increased med now but i am still getting sick almost daily. Does anyone know if this is normal? I go back to the endo dr tomorrow. thanks Betty
Hi Betty, welcome! Ive found a Thyroid Function Test article on Wikipedia. It may help you to determine which range you fall into. Although, your endoc would be the one to determine what you are experiencing is normal. Best wish's to you.

Hi fox Iv never talked to some1 with Hidradenitis suppuritiva before, I also hav IBS, insomnia, underactive thyroid and was just diagnosed with fibro (among other things). Can HS be connected to any of these illnesses coz my docs never told me that. I cant believe how many illnesses we have in common, freaky right?
Hello kyster. Yes, I do believe that it is connected. HS has got to be the worst. Ive tested different remedy's and products but have come to realize that HS is some sort of fungus. I began treating it with a foot creame called "Miracle Foot Repair" that has 60% aloe vera. It kept new "aliens" as I call them from forming and helped existing aliens to disappear. I use the foot creame after each shower and because you cant use deoderant, the foot creame acted as a deorderant. I would not have thought either that severe PMS or even PCOS would have been connected, but it is.
According the the Pall Protocol people generally have four disorders being affected, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Fibromyalgia and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Once one or more of these gets aggravated, usually by stress/anxiety, the cycle begins and can last months, years, or for life.
However, it can be controlled. The first step is to eliminate stress inducing events such as stress, chemical exposure, environmental pollution exposure. This is taken straight from Prof. Pall's page:
Table 1 Illnesses Initiated by Short Term Stressors
IllnessStressors
Chronic fatigue syndrome
Viral infections, bacterial infections, physical trauma, severe psychological stress, carbon monoxide exposure, organophosphorus pesticide exposure, ciguatoxin exposure, toxoplasmosis (protozoan) infection
Multiple chemical sensitivity
Volatile organic solvent exposure, organophosphorus/carbamate pesticide exposure, organochlorine pesticide exposure, pyrethroid pesticide exposure
Fibromyalgia
Physical trauma (particularly head and neck trauma), viral infections, bacterial infections, autoimmune diseases (secondary fibromyalgia), severe psychological stress
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Severe psychological stress; physical (head) trauma
The stressors most commonly involved in the initiation of each type of illness are indicated in bold face.
These 12 diverse stressors can all act to increase the levels of the compound nitric oxide in the body (15,21-27). Eight of these have been shown to increase nitric oxide in animal models and/or in humans. The other four, ciguatoxin, severe psychological stress, organochlorine pesticides and pyrethroid pesticides, have all been shown to initiate a response that leads to increased NMDA receptor activity and it is known that increased NMDA receptor activity produces increased levels of nitric oxide and its oxidant product, peroxynitrite. Thus, all 12 can produce a common biochemical response and the consequent increase in nitric oxide may explain the common roles of these stressors in initiating cases of these chronic illnesses. How can a short-term increase in nitric oxide produce chronic illness that typically lasts for years and often for life? It may be argued that it may act through its oxidant product, peroxynitrite, to initiate a vicious cycle mechanism which is responsible for the chronic illness. In other words, we have an initial cause (one or more short-term stressors) and then an ongoing cause of chronic illness (vicious cycle). The cycle that is proposed to be responsible is diagrammed in Figure 1 (15,21-28).

I have started taking some of the recommended vitamins and Im virutally pain free at the moment. Ive also noted in my other posts a marked increase in motivation. This is significant as before I severely lacked in motivation as in not wanting to do anything. Today, Ive decided that I want to start walking again. I know the distance will be short because Ive been sedentary far too long but I know I can build that up over the course of a month and get the exercise I need to lose weight again. Please take a look at Prof Pall's protocol and see if this is something that may help you too.

aiens is such an apt name for them. mine have got to the stage where sometimes i cant walk or even bear to have clothes on.when i was pregnant the doc had to come out because one grew to the size of a tennis ball. wen its not them its something else, vertigo so bad i cant be left alone, fibro pain keeeping me in bed etc.i may try this and see if it helps thanxx
Hey kyster, from what I understand, lancing them only helps them to spread. Tennis ball size, wow, that was a big alien. Ive dealt with golf ball size aliens and those were some buggers to get rid off. Hmm, I started out using witch hazel (store bought) to bring down the swelling and for maintenance. You'll notice that they appear in moist areas and thats when I got the notion they are a type of fungus. So, the foot creame actually wicks away the moisture and the aloe vera neutralizes the affected area. I went to several doctors who could not identify the disorder and finally I was sent to a dermatologist who knew right away what it was. His "treatment" was a little too drastic so I declined his method which wasnt a cure anyway. My woman's health doctor didnt know what they were either but had seen them on other patients. She asked what I do to treat them and I told her about the foot creame and why I use it- she said she'd pass it on to her other patients.
I guess, its just something ppl dont talk about because its so personal but it cant be ignored otherwise, like you mention, it greatly affects your daily life- even personal relationships! Wearing loose, breathable clothing helps alot, including underclothes. After I get out of the shower, I use a fan to help dry up the moisture before applying the creame or witch hazel. Only once in a while, especially if I sweat a lot, I'll get a minor outbreak thats easily brought under control.
I have vertigo too. I actually had to go to the ER because I didnt know what was wrong. The ER doc gave me meclizine and that seems to help. If youre not already taking B12, have your blood level checked, you may be deficient. Vitamin B12 is also essential for your skin so it might be an added bonus to help fight them aliens. Wishing you well and take care! Ronda
i use germaline.my dr seem to be more aware of the prob than yours plus my mum has HS. antibiotics like erythromyacin help a lot of ppl tho i seem to be resistent.has anyone suggested the surgery to you?i looked into it but its really painful and not a definite cure so screw that lol. i had a look at tht link into the pall protocal and it was v helpful thanx. im going to ask my dr about the B12 s well thank you so much
I'll take a look at the germaline, thanks!
Last night I was chatting with a lady who basically grew up in an alternative healing family and now works in a herbal store. She is more familiar with Dr.Teitelbaum's protocol which is basically the same or better than Prof Pall's.
The difficult part in trying to duplicate the protocol is the dosage amounts and availability of the ingredients. Dr. Teitelbaum has a powder with ALL the ingredients in one product. The alternative healer I spoke with said many of her customers have had success with Dr T's products.

Oh yes, the surgery part for the HS was a definate no-go for me. Dermatologist want to take out or destroy glands that are important for our bodies and I just didnt want to go that route. Getting them under control and into remission was satisfactory to me.
