Options and Support-I need your help!

Hi! I am 15 and I have hypothyroidism, carpal tunnel syndrome, non-restorative sleep syndrome, fibromyalgia, and JRA (maybe). Im on a medicine called Tramadol and it only takes the edge off. I am in constant pain and am now starting to get stress migraines. I barely ever sleep and even when i do i do not wake up feeling refreshed. I am starting massage therapy tomorrow and praying that it will help. I have also started to try exercising at least 5 days a week and have had trouble sticking to a schedule. I have been having symptoms since i was 13 and have just now started to get treatment. I am allergic to many of the different medicines my dr. has tried to put me on and so now i am searching for other alternatives to reduce the pain. Im having trouble coping with the pain and am having trouble because my friends and family dont understand what im going through. I hope that people on here will provide me with options and support!

Thanks in advance!
Lydia

Hi Lydia, I am so sorry for what you are going through with your pain and sleeplessness. Although, I don't have direct experience with what you are going through, I have endured pain in my past and as have friends and family. I've always turned to alternative medicines and treatments such as acupuncture, which helped me heal time and time again. Though, I never recommend trying anything new without at least clearing it with a medical professional first.

Please know that we are here for you and here to help you in any way that we can. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending you many positive vibes and wishing you all of the best.

Hi, I have hypothroidism too. Nobody mentioned that, if, your thyroid
is not producing enough thyroxine, you usually feel tired, and sometimes
causes you carpel tunnel pain.Make sure your thyroid doctor lets you know if your TSH level is normal. Carpal tunnel surgery is a simple operation, and it does relieve the hand and wrist pain. Back surgery I
would not reccomend, unless they are doing surgery with a scope. Open
back surgery is painful and causes a lot of scar tissue. Unless you have
severe pain going down the back of your legs, for a while,do not get back surgery yet. Hope you get better Dave

lydia, i don't have your issues, mine is nerve damage. pain is constant to varying degrees. i'm so sorry your dealing with so much. i have pain meds that work sometimes. been thru a list of them. please stay after your doc for other meds. i also use lots of ice. acupuncture works for many. i understand always being in pain. friends and family mean well but don't know what its like to always hurt. folks here do. there are foods that many suggest that work. look for foods to reduce pain on the net. there are lots of options. let us know how your doing

Hugs from Houston.......Kathy

Thanks! its good to know that someone at least understands what it is like, it helps me feel like im not alone! The massage therapy was kinda of good and bad. It hurt while i was getting the massage and then felt better afterwards for a few hours and then that night I was in horrible pain. So...unsure what is going to happen. My mom and I am looking into special diets, so hopefully we can find something that will work!

I'm on Tramadol right now and its not really working...the last med i could go on is Lyrica but my dr. doesnt want to put me on it cause im so young...so the next option is going to a pain specialist and possibly having spine surgery...

yes they said most likely an implant of some kind but they want to do some tests and stuff before they decide anything. My mom and I are trying to find other solutions because surgery at my age seems very extreme and if we can find a different solution we want to so we are trying to explore all possibilities before doing anything drastic.

smart choice. in my case i've been to 7 docs and the implant is my only option at this point short of God granting me a miracle. i'm 52 so i have a few years on you. hoping you find other alternatives to treat your pain.

Hey Lydia...

Please don't rush into surgery at your age! I realize that it seems like you have some serious issues there, but there are alternatives!

I don't know when your problems started, but there was probably some emotional upset and experience(s) that occurred before the physcial stuff showed up in your body.

Carpul tunnel is often linked to anger...arthitis is linked to an I can't do it, or I'm not good enough' feeling...and fibro is often a deep feeling of guilt for something or someone.

Believe it or not, once you are able to release the deep seated feelings that you are holding onto, the pain and suffereing often go away with it.

If you go on Youtube and check out Robert Smith's videos on Faster EFT, it will give you a great insight as to what I'm talking about.

I use it all of the time in my practice, and can verify how well it all works.

Please let me know what you think of it. :o)

Stay strong...you can do it!
